brought actions against certain Companies in forma pauperis: I

don't remember your coming about the Dutch Consul making trouble

about $2 for which you would not give him a receipt. I don't

You had to get permission to put these pauper cases through

because they were not covered by the Ordinance: we did them ex

gratia.

You would have to get express instructions to carry through

each one of these cases: not for fear that you would be acting as

a Solicitor but because it was a gratuitously piece of work done

for the benefit of the poor persons concerned. You could have put some through without btaining permission if I had not noticed it

and if I had noticed such thing I should have told you not to do it again. If you had refused to do one when asked it would have been a disciplinary matter: I don't know what I should have done. I don't know what you received these fees in arivance for: I express no opinion. Strictly the applicants should get their documents atauped themselves buy their stamps themselves.

Son K. Sen deceased's case was in January of this year, I

think: in this case I think I did (witness says I will get up the file) hand you £12; it was a pauper case.
